Well done to Morgan and all his team, for their hard work and dedication after an a season that was truly unthinkable for all involved. We would like to congratulate Morgan and all his players for keeping it together, and to continue to see out the season after all that happened. The last post, we were congratlating Morgan on getting his UEFA B Licence.

Morgan rang me this evening, and informed me that he had informed his players, and was now informing The Chairman, that this was his last game with Dunboyne A.F.C. Morgan stated personal and family reasons for his decision, and that he wanted to find a Club nearer to his home in Navan. We are truly sorry to see Morgan going, as he has been part of the Club for years, and has coached at every level, from under age to Senior Level, and his dedication, passion, commitment and true character cannot be bought or sold. I personally am extremely dissapointed to see a good friend, a brilliant coach and a true gentleman leave the Club, and he will leave a void that will be very hard to fill, both on and off the pitch, and I am sure that every member of the Club from Tots to Seniors will share these sentiments with me. Morgan will fulfill his agreement that he has with the Coaching Committee to do some sessions as part of the overall Coaching Plan.

We are all sad, and dissapointed to see Morgan move on, but as we all know, Family comes first. Morgan we wish you and your family all the very best for the future, which we are certain will be a good future in Coaching, and Development of the game.

Best Wishes Morgan

DUNBOYNE U13F’S DASH DUNSHAUGHLINS WINNING STREAK!

The Star newspaper carried a report on 14th February stating that the Under 13F league is one of the most hotly contested groups in the N.D.S.L. at the moment. Artane, Maynooth,, Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne are all fighting hard for the honour of winning the league. Artane are hot favourites to win and Dunshaughlin are biting at their heels in second place. So Dunboyne U13F knew they faced a hard battle against Dunshaughlin at home 3 weeks ago.

In a great show of strength and pride in the Dunboyne colours, the U13F’s beat Dunshaughlin 2-0 after a brilliant performance from the team, pining Dunshaughlin in their own half for most of the game. Sam Ree in goal that day had very little to do and Calvin scored a brace against Dunshaughlin, a team his cousin plays for, so we dare say a little bragging rights going on there!

Today Sunday 26th February, we knew we were in for a hard battle against Dunshaughlin on their home turf, and we knew they had been missing a couple of key players in the first game. So we hoped to start strong and strong we started! A ferociously struck corner kick from Philip Browne caught the keeper unawares and nothing could stop the ball going in the net. The pressure was kept up by this excellent Dunboyne team and a second goal came from our great new find Richard, who cannot be put off the ball once he has his heart set on goal. Dunshaughlin made a couple of great passing moves and then they were awarded a penalty. Luckily for us it was sent wide. Dunboyne soon got back to the game plan and a beautiful sweet left foot shot from Sam sent Dunshaughlin reeling. Dunshaughlin had two more penalties in the game, one was missed and the other lead to the save of the season from Simon who followed up with two more brilliant saves. Richard went on to score two more goals - this was a great team performance. Dimitri, the captain held a great back line and played with all his heart and skill. Margaret Leonard played her usual faultless performance. Jamie, Luke and Niall Birmingham across the back played with great strength and let very little through. Cian, Niall Cullen, Philip, Gary and Ben held up a great midfield and Calvin displayed great skill on the ball. Richard got the match ball for his first hat trick and the players voted for Simon in goal as their man of the match. Again an all-round great team performance and hopefully we can go all the way. Missing through injury were Caolin and Matthew. Hope to have them back for the next game

To date, we have in excess of 90 people in the Club who have not paid their yearly subscriptions (or made any attempt to talk to us). We have been opening the shop midweek for this purpose, and not one person turned up tonight. We ask you to come forward to us,as you have all been issued with letters, and every single person has been identified. Should you not make an effort to come and talk to us, we will have no option but to deem your child ineligible to play for the Club! We all work on a voluntary basis, and it is highly frustrating for us to have to chase people for subscriptions, for what is a true Community Club. We ask you to come forward, this weekend to the Club shop, and do what is right.

It was disappoinmting not to qualify for the FAI Senior Cup, but it certainly was not for the want of effort or skill on our part. That a game of such importance was allowed to go ahead on such a poor, barely playable pitch, is questionable. Kildrum will travel to Cork to play College Corinthians at the end of January in the next round, and we wish them well.

Click here (and scroll) to read match reports of games played so far.
The Republic of Ireland Women's team used the facilities at Dunboyne AFC in preparation for their Euro qualifier against Israel last Saturday. The Irish left it late at Tallaght Stadium to score two goals against Israel that pushed them up to second place of 2013 UEFA Championship qualification Group 4. As you all know, this Programme is offered free of charge to all Children with Special Needs. It is run on a voluntary basis by Fran Tyrrell, Eugene Dowling, and 3 Citi Bank Employees, John, Lisa and Laura. We also welcome David Beattie, as a new Volunteer, and Ben Hall will be joining us next week. We have asked The F.A.I. to place all Volunteers on a Special Needs Training Course, which will happen shortly.

Finally, we would ask that all participants to purchase the Kit for the Children. The Kit will cost €55, and will include, socks, shorts, top, and windcheater. This is the only cost that we ask for, and it is simply to make us a professional outfit, as all children will be dressed the same.

Many thanks to all involved, and please spread the word about this Programme!

Regards
